The DJH City-Hostels are part of the German Youth Hostel Association Rhineland e.V.

The German Youth Hostel Association was founded in 1909. Today, it consists of 14 regional associations - one of which is the DJH Landesverband Rheinland e.V., based in Düsseldorf. As a non-profit, registered association, it is a recognised provider of independent youth welfare services.

Of the more than 400 youth hostels in Germany, 32 belong to the Rhineland regional association. These are located in the scenically attractive areas of the Eifel, the Bergisches Land and the Lower Rhine. In addition to modern city hostels in the Rhine metropolises of Cologne and Düsseldorf and charming hostels in former castle complexes, the Rhineland regional association operates numerous hostels with special profiles - from adventure education to industrial culture and circus.

Die Idee der friedvollen Begegnung junger Menschen aus aller Welt – das ist der Kern der Jugendherbergsidee. Auf diesem Leitgedanken sowie auf einer über 100-jährigen Tradition aufbauend verfolgt der Verein „Deutsches Jugendherbergswerk“ gemeinsam mit seinem Landesverband Rheinland das Ziel, die Jugendhilfe und Jugendbildung zu fördern. Darüber hinaus zählen die Unterstützung von Alleinerziehenden und Familien mit Kindern, die Stärkung des Heimatgedankes sowie der Umwelt- und Landschaftsschutz zu den zentralen Vereinszwecken.
