Social learning: Hygge & acceptance of rules

A school trip to the Rhineland means fun and social learning!

The Danish word „Hyg jer“ means „have fun“. But don't worry, you don't have to travel all the way to Denmark to experience Hyg jer. All you need to do is pop into the Brüggen Youth Hostel is coming. The programme of our cooperation partner „The Kulturschleiferei“ is aimed at the 5th grade. The aim is to form a community from the newly formed class.

„In this programme with a feel-good atmosphere, we focus on getting to know our fellow students as well as our own strengths and weaknesses. Together, we create a basis of trust,“ explains Sylvia Bonn from „die Kulturschleiferei“.

And: „The pupils find their own ‚rules and rituals‘ that can be used as tools in everyday teaching. Social training with a colourful mix of elements of experiential education, mindfulness exercises and the special hygge module.“ So things can also be cosy - „hygge“, in other words.

The „Rock the Rules“ in the Bad Honnef Youth Hostel. This programme is about developing a positive attitude towards rules. This is because many people perceive rules as negative and restrictive. In „Rock the rules“, participants experience how rules can provide a reliable framework, protect against negative consequences in social interactions and support the achievement of personal goals. Through interactive exercises, you will learn how rules help to achieve common goals better and more sustainably. In small team tasks, the group will experience the importance of (un)stated rules and the challenges they pose.

In addition, the class develops its own game ideas in different teams. These must then be explained to the other groups. They reflect together on what they have done. The rules introduced and how to deal with rule violations are worked through together. The programme is supported by „Skills4Life“ who specialise in topics such as bullying, team and communication training.
