What is so special about Aachen? The first thing that comes to mind is, of course, its special location in the border triangle. Aachen borders Belgium and the Netherlands. But you don't necessarily have to cross the border, because there is plenty to discover in Aachen too.

Die schöne Altstadt lädt zum Schlendern und Verweilen ein. Auf eurem Weg kommt ihr dann auch am bekannten Aachener Dom vorbei. Wusstet ihr, dass der Dom das erste UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe Deutschlands war? Geht auf jeden Fall ins Innere des Doms. Der Blick nach oben in das Deckengewölbe verdeutlicht die streng geometrische Konzeption, die sich durch den ganzen Dom zieht.

Would you like a little refreshment after your visit to the cathedral? We recommend Aachener Printen. And no, a Printe cannot be compared to a gingerbread or honey cake. But why not try the flavour for yourself? Printen are also a great souvenir.

Charlemagne was a great fan of Aachen. Aachen was his residence during the winter months. Charlemagne is said to have stayed here in winter mainly because of the hot springs, as he is said to have suffered from rheumatism.

A special event is the annual CHIO World Equestrian Festival. The competitions start in June. Tickets for 2024 can already be booked.
