World record attempt in Panarbora

Peter Anthony Konrad managed 2,924 metres in altitude or just under 43 kilometres in his world record attempt, thus clearly exceeding the target he had set himself. We would like to congratulate him on this fantastic achievement!

On 20 April 2024, an official attempt will be made to set a world record at the Waldbröl Panarbora Youth Hostel Nature Adventure Park: Anthony-Peter Konrad from Siegen-Eiserfeld will run up and down the youth hostel's observation tower for 12 hours without a break on this day. To achieve his goal of at least 2,500 metres of ascent and descent, he would have to run up to the viewing platform at a height of 34 metres and back down to the ground at least 37 times. In doing so, he would cover a distance of around 40 kilometres.

The important thing here is that this is an official and recognised record attempt, for which the „Record Institute for Germany“ (RID for short) has created and meticulously worked out a new category - the most metres of altitude achieved on foot up and down in 12 hours. Konrad is allowed to go to the toilet every two hours. However, the more often he takes a break, the less likely it is that he will reach the required altitude metres. The 40-year-old therefore wants to eat and drink while he runs. „There are packets of mushy food that triathletes also use in competitions,“ explains Konrad.

The youth hostel and the Panarbora nature adventure park in Waldbröl are proud that Anthony-Peter Konrad has chosen their landmark to complete his record-breaking run. The man from Eiserfeld, who describes himself as a „great friend of extreme sporting achievements“, is not undertaking this run for the purpose of self-promotion, but is pursuing a noble goal: he wants to draw attention to the Caritas project „Do you hear me?“ - a project that has long been close to his heart, but which he has only been able to support privately until now. „Do you hear me?“ provides bereavement counselling and cares for children with a seriously ill parent, for example.
