Nettetal: Clear the ring for nature and adventure

Species-rich floodplain landscapes, forests and just a stone's throw from the Netherlands - the Lower Rhine offers its visitors a wide range of excursion and leisure options. In the Nettetal-Hinsbeck Youth Hostel active families in particular will find the ideal accommodation. In addition to the popular Holiday programme „Manege free“ the hotel has further special offers for families: with the 3 and 5-day family break, you can look forward to a short holiday at a fixed family price of 229 euros and 459 euros respectively. By the way, until 26 May 2024 you can still take part in our Competition and win a short family break including 2 nights with breakfast for a maximum of 2 adults and 3 children up to the age of 17 at Nettetal Youth Hostel.

On foot to numerous excursion destinations

You're guaranteed not to get bored during your stay in Nettetal. There is plenty to do in the immediate vicinity. Directly next to the youth hostel is the Niederrhein climbing forest. Here you can master many a challenge alone or as a family team. Covering an area of over 20,000 square metres, the climbing forest offers you nine courses with 125 climbing elements. Tickets for this unique experience are available at Weekend package „Wipfelsturm im Ketterwald“ already included. Further to the east, Lake Krickenbeck is also within walking distance. The nature reserve, which was originally created by peat extraction from fens, is one of the oldest nature reserves in North Rhine-Westphalia and can be explored via various circular trails, some of which are barrier-free. The Information centre of the Krickenbeck Lakes Biological Station provides information about the geology of the Nettetal, the local flora and fauna and the work of the Biological Station. It is also largely barrier-free. You can also learn a lot about nature and its biodiversity at the NABU Nature Conservation Centre Nettetal. On the Nette, around 4 kilometres from the youth hostel, the farm offers exciting insights into nature. After a short hike across the picturesque De Wittsee lake, you will reach the „Tortuga Adventure Golf“. On the lovingly designed course, which was inspired by the adventures of buccaneers, you can compete in minigolf.

2,000 kilometres of cycle paths

If you can, bring your bikes to the Lower Rhine - after all, the region has the Longest signposted cycle path network throughout Germany. Numerous excursion destinations can be easily reached by bike, including the neighbouring town of Grefrath. Here you will find an indoor and outdoor swimming pool, a Ice stadium and the Lower Rhine open-air museum. You can experience the rural and artisanal history of the Lower Rhine in historic farmsteads and workshops and then fortify yourself in the museum restaurant „Pannekookehuus“. If you fancy a longer cycle tour or are travelling by car, take a detour to the Netherlands: A shopping tour through Venlo, 20 minutes away by car, is just as worthwhile as a visit to the adventure park „Klein Zwitserland“ in Tegelen. The park combines adventurous play elements with the nostalgia of a playground.

Our tip: Paddling on the Niers

A real highlight for adventurous families is a canoe tour on the Niers. From the neighbouring village of Grefrath, you can set off on an 8-kilometre-long Tour to Wachtendonk set off. The tour lasts around 2.5 hours and takes you through wonderful countryside, past swans, ducks, cows and Mariendonk Abbey.

Favourable offers for families

At Nettetal-Hinsbeck Youth Hostel, families can stay overnight thanks to various offers particularly favourable. In addition to the 3 days family time out and the 5 days family time out and the weekend package „Climbing tower in the climbing forest“, the house also offers the popular family holiday „Manege frei“. All family members can put their circus talent to the test for a week and contribute to the big circus gala in the hotel's own original circus tent at the end. The leisure programme is also suitable for people with disabilities and is available in the Autumn holidays as well as via New Year's Eve as a short version bookable. Families stay in cosy family rooms with shower and WC in all offers, which are also accessible for people with disabilities, subject to availability. The large outdoor area invites you to play, run around and relax.

You are more? Groups are also welcome

Family and leisure groups of 10 people or more receive a 15% discount on the regular prices for accommodation and meals during the NRW holidays for a minimum stay of 4 nights.

„Circus holidays“ for children between the ages of 7 and 13

Without parents, but supervised around the clock by experienced teamers, children can also make the in-house circus tent at Nettetal Youth Hostel unsafe. Acrobat, clown, fakir or magician? With the „Circus holidays“, every participant is guaranteed to find their talent and play their part in the grand finale gala. During the summer holidays, places are still available in the first week (07.07.-12.07.2024) and the second week (14.07.-19.07.2024).
