Wiehler wellness New Year's Eve with workshop principle

It is the classic New Year's Eve programme at the youth hostels in the Rhineland: the „Wiehler Wellness New Year's Eve“. We spoke to Dominika Heider, Managing Director at TEAMScouts. Together with her team, she is once again organising the leisure programme this year. When asked what makes the programme so popular, she says: „There are lots of different workshops throughout the day on relaxation, creativity, beauty and exercise. So everyone, whether child, teenager or adult, can put together their own personal wellness programme.“ She adds that the kitchen team at Wiehl Youth Hostel also provides a varied and plentiful buffet catering during the leisure time, so that the families are „completely satisfied“ the whole time.

The programme starts after arrival on 29 December. The families get to know each other over a fruity welcome cocktail. The next day can already be planned on the programme board. Depending on the programme, there are lists in which interested parties can sign up. „This allows us to react at short notice if we realise that there is a lot of demand for one or other of the offers. Then there might be a second round so that everyone gets a chance and it doesn't get too full. It's important to me that my employees are also relaxed, because this is also passed on to the guests,“ says Dominika Heider. Afterwards, parents have the opportunity to use the in-house sauna while the younger children listen to a story by the open fire and the older children chill out at the TeenTreff.

After a delicious breakfast, the programme days start with various activities, such as Nordic walking, yoga, archery, guided fantasy journeys, a maxi table football tournament, a visit to the Wiehl wildlife park and „cosmetics from the kitchen“. There are also creative activities, which are selected depending on the age structure of the children and young people. „This year, we will definitely be making soaps and painting T-shirts,“ reveals Dominika Heider. In addition to the workshops, there is also the opportunity to use the sauna. „During the day, it's sometimes women and girls, sometimes men and boys. In addition to the sauna, we offer various cosmetic treatments such as our nourishing lavender sea salt marble foot bath or the sugar pearl coconut body scrub for our young and old guests.“

At the end of the second day of the programme, families can look forward to a great New Year's Eve party with a buffet, music and dancing. The firework bingo ensures that everyone is well equipped to welcome in the New Year at midnight with lots of noise. For the adults, there will be champagne to toast and a midnight snack to keep everyone going a little longer. Thanks to the late check-out on New Year's Day, everyone can sleep a little longer before the families return home relaxed, refreshed and well-fuelled by the New Year's brunch.
