School swimming pass & school sports communities

New impetus for school sport in NRW.

The Ministry of Schools and Education of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia (MSB NRW) has launched new tools to make school sport even more targeted and safer. The focus is on two points in particular: the Swimming skills of pupils and Co-operation with sports clubs.

🏊‍♂️School swimming pass NRW: simple proof of swimming ability

The NRW Swimming Pass enables teachers to record their pupils' swimming ability in a structured way. It comprises four levels:

1. Beginners
2. Basic knowledge
3. Advanced knowledge
4. Safe swimming - this level corresponds to the German swimming pass in bronze and is recognised as equivalent.

The pass can be downloaded and printed free of charge

Pupils with proof of safe swimming can take part in water sports programmes in school sports.

🚣 Water sports on a school trip 

With the school swimming pass in your luggage, all you have to do is decide on a school trip involving water. Here you will find numerous programmes involving water. How about, for example:

• Class trip to Duisburg: „Summer“ team triathlon“
• Class trip to Radevormwald: Canoeing day on the Wuppertal dam
• Class trip to Simmerath: Adventure Academy (3T/1.5P/D / E)
• School trip to Wipperfürth: Outdoor active (3 days)
• Class trip to Xanten: 5 days X: Is that nothing? / Canoe course

🤝 School sports communities: strengthening cooperation

A new guideline has been in place since the 2021/22 school year that facilitates cooperation between schools and sports clubs:

• Higher expense allowances for the management of school sports clubs.
• More flexible implementation times for sports programmes.
• New registration portal for digital applications: foerderportal.lsb-nrw.de/startpage
