The legend of the dark troll

Children love role play. Mother, father, child. Hospital. Dog and master. Slipping into other roles is a natural way for children to play and promotes empathy and social behaviour. But adults also benefit from role-playing. They enable us to take a step back from everyday life, change our perspective and get out of ourselves. In the Blankenheim Castle Youth Hostels families can take part in an exciting role-playing game over the turn of the year that is suitable for children and adults alike.
You will spend three days at the medieval Blankenheim Castle and stay in the beautiful castle rooms of the youth hostel.

What is the New Year's Eve role-playing game about?

It's back to the Middle Ages: in the year 1205 AD, the people of Blankenheim live in harmony with the creatures of the forest. But for several weeks now, livestock and crops have been mysteriously disappearing. Could these incidents have anything to do with the actually peaceful Dunkeltroll? The farmers and citizens of Blankenheim ask the participants for their help. Now it's time to get to the bottom of the incidents. Everyone learns how to safely handle the weapons of the Middle Ages: sword, bow and arrow and crossbow. Everyone proves their chivalry at the tournament and works with wood and leather with great skill. The evenings are cosy around the campfire, where participants listen to stories of a bygone era. New Year's Eve is celebrated in style in the great knights' hall.
