Summer holidays: Free places for kids & teens

The summer holidays in NRW start in a few weeks and with them the holiday camps at our youth hostels. Climbing on the red sandstone cliffs, exploring the Lower Rhine by bike or mastering sporting challenges in the virtual and real world. There are still places available on these holiday camps.

Week 1: 06.07.-14.07.2024

Future Girls, Lindlar Youth Hostel

This supervised 9-day programme especially for girls aged between 11 and 14 is all about the question: Who am I and who do I want to be? What is important to me and what defines me? Also on the agenda are swap rallies, fashion shows and the cosmetics workshop. Further information

Click your way through the adventure and learn how to use different computer programmes to produce animated films or programme your own computer game. Of course, you'll also get active, e.g. playing volleyball in the sand, night hiking in the forest and playing football on the football pitch. For teens aged 11 to 14. Further information

Solo for RebelGIRLS, Windeck-Rosbach Youth Hostel

Are you well-behaved, wild, cautious or daring? It doesn't matter! Girls aged between 11 and 16 try out lots of new things together: Archery, making your own cosmetics, orienteering with map and compass, upcycling and much more. The highlight is the trip to the climbing park in Honnef. In the evening, everyone comes together around the campfire, at a film evening or at the disco. Further information

Forest and wilderness detectives, Windeck-Rosbach Youth Hostel

Kids aged 8-12 who love being out and about in nature are in the right place here. Each day in the forest has a different theme and the nature diary is filled with colourful discoveries. They can get creative by making glow bowls, amulets, herb bags, insect stickers and land art artworks. Further information

Stunt Academy, Bad Honnef Youth Hostel

Being a stunt(wo)man is cool, but also pretty exhausting. In this popular classic, teens aged between 11 and 15 try out different types of martial arts and learn how to stage a show fight. What else is needed: trust, discipline and team spirit. Further information

The area surrounding the youth hostel, right next to the Eifel National Park, is a paradise for wilderness and survival experts. But first, everyone builds their forest camp, which serves as a base camp for theme days and expeditions. For kids aged 9-13. Further information

Are you aged between 12 and 15 and want to chill out and do something good for yourself? Then head to the wellness farm! Here you'll experience the perfect mix of exercise, relaxation and fun, e.g. slacklining, archery, mixing your own cosmetics and a water fight. Further information

Animals Crossing, Kleve Youth Hostel

This English-German holiday programme takes kids and teens aged between 9 and 13 on a day-long donkey trek. The programme also includes many other activities related to the animal world. Finding, interpreting and reproducing animal tracks, a trip to the zoo with Zoofari, bat day and bat night, and much more. Further information

Baseball, soccer, badminton, darts, cricket, billiards - during this colourful holiday week you will get to know lots of new sports and improve your English skills at the same time. Climbing on coloured sandstone rocks, slacklining, parkour and much more. Teens aged between 11 and 16 can take on many a challenge around Nideggen Youth Hostel. A barbecue and a closing party round off this exciting week for outdoor fans. Further information

Virtual worlds or real outdoor adventures? No one has to choose here. You can try archery and climbing live and virtually, as well as campfires and stick bread. Cycling holidays, Brüggen Youth Hostel

The perfect holiday for children between the ages of 9 and 13 who like to be active. Various day trips criss-cross the Lower Rhine, past lakes and rivers, through forests and nature reserves. The destination is sometimes an outdoor pool, sometimes an amusement park with a petting zoo, sometimes a playground. Participants also learn how to repair bikes, read maps and „pimp“ bikes. Mogwarts for Muggles, Monschau Castle Youth Hostel

For kids and teens aged between 7 and 12, everything revolves around spells, potions, fantastic animal creatures and, of course, their favourite sport, Quidditch, for a week in a real knight's castle high above the town centre. Further information

Proof that you can learn to learn and that it's even fun. In the mornings, everything for teens aged between 10 and 15 revolves around learning types, time planning, self-management, learning strategies and mnemonics, while in the afternoons there is time for excursions, chilling out or other activities such as geocaching in the forest, fitness games, yoga, slacklining or water fights.
