EURO 2024: Welcome to Düsseldorf

Düsseldorf is the venue for the European Football Championship 2024. Five matches of the EUFA EURO 2024, including between Austria and France, Albania and Spain and one round of 16 and one quarter-final match each, will take place in the Arena Düsseldorf. But even those who are unable to get a ticket can join in the excitement and celebrations in Düsseldorf, e.g. at the public viewing on the banks of the Rhine or in one of the two specially set up fan zones. Even between matches, there is no time for boredom in the NRW state capital. Düsseldorf has a lot to offer - for football enthusiasts as well as for culture vultures and families.

Arena Düsseldorf

The MERKUR SPIEL-ARENA will become the Düsseldorf Arena during EURO 2024. The following European Championship matches will take place here:

If you are lucky enough to be at one of the matches in the Düsseldorf Arena, you should definitely pay a visit to the monument to Toni Turek before the game. The bronze statue of the 1954 World Cup winner, who was instrumental in the „Miracle of Bern“ thanks to his saves, stands in front of the entrance to the stadium.

Public Viewing and Fan Zones

On Düsseldorf banks of the Rhine all matches of the German national team and all matches taking place in Düsseldorf will be broadcast. The extraordinary location directly on the Rhine with the state parliament, the Rhine Tower and the Rheinkniebrücke bridge as a backdrop creates a particularly unique atmosphere - the perfect place to watch the games and share the excitement with friends. Not far away, between the banks of the Rhine and the old town, is the Burgplatz one of a total of two fan zones. It is open daily from 12 noon and offers a varied programme with TV broadcasts, live match broadcasts and performances by renowned music acts and local artists. In addition, Burgplatz will host an extensive football programme and the „EURO 2024 Festival eFootball Masters“, which will give local e-sports teams the chance to prove themselves in an exciting 11vs11 format. The Second Düsseldorf Fan Zone is located at the Düsseldorf Schauspielhaus theatre. Football fans can enjoy football and culture around the architecture hotspot on all UEFA EURO 2024 event days. Selected matches will be shown here on a big screen, while actors from the D'haus ensemble and students from the Düsseldorf drama studio will join football and theatre enthusiasts of all generations on several dates to present the Open-air theatre play „Faith, love, football“.

• There are culinary highlights on almost every street corner in Düsseldorf. Düsseldorf's historic city centre is particularly recommended. Here you will find the „longest bar in the world“: 260 pubs, restaurants and bars spread over half a square kilometre. The breweries serve the famous Düsseldorf Altbier and hearty Rhenish home cooking. Not far away, along Immermannstraße, you will find Düsseldorf's Little Tokyo. Did you know that Düsseldorf is home to the third-largest Japanese community in Europe? Here you will find sushi, ramen and tonkatsu, of course, but also a shop selling Japanese sweets, a Japanese cocktail bar, a bookshop and many other Japanese shops.
• You can experience politics during EURO2024 at the Düsseldorf State Parliament. The architecturally particularly interesting building right next to the Rhine Tower will be open to visitors on 15, 22, 23, 29 and 30 June from 11 am to 4 pm. On these dates, you can take part in guided tours, take a look inside the plenary chamber and enjoy the fantastic view of the Rhine.
• Enjoying art and culture is particularly easy in Düsseldorf: the city has a diverse museum landscape that has something to offer for a wide range of interests. The NRW Art Collection, consisting of K20 and K21, houses an impressive collection of modern and contemporary art. K20 concentrates on works from the 20th century, while K21 displays artworks from the 1980s onwards. The NRW Forum is known for its interdisciplinary exhibitions, which include photography, media art, fashion and design. From 23 June, the NRW-Forum and the Art Palace again „THE BIG ONE“, where the exhibited works can also be purchased. The new collection is currently on display in the Kunstpalast, diagonally opposite the NRW-Forum. From 20 June, the exhibition „Spot on: Hairytales“, which focuses on human hair. Particularly exciting for children are the ShippingMuseum at Burgplatz and the Aquazoo Löbbecke Museum, a combination of zoo and natural history museum. There are numerous aquariums, terrariums and natural science exhibitions here. Until 11 August, the Balloon Museum in the city.
