A sea of flowers
It's daffodil season again in the Eifel! Every year between the end of March and mid-April, around six million wild daffodils transform the Perlenbach and Fuhrtsbachtal valleys near Monschau and the Oleftal valley near Hellenthal into a sea of flowers. This year, the peak bloom is expected in the second week of April - around a week earlier than usual thanks to the mild winter.
Guided or individual: hiking along the wild daffodils
A hike along this fascinating natural spectacle is something very special. Alex Hartmann, hostel manager at Monschau-Hargard Youth Hostel, has already walked along the yellow flowers this year and was „really impressed“. You can walk to the daffodils on your own or as part of a guided hike. The town of Monschau has provided information on hiking car parks, circular hiking trails and dates for guided tours on its website.
Visitors who are travelling further afield will find the following facilities in the youth hostels Monschau-Hargard, Monschau-Burg and Hellenthal affordable accommodation and a great starting point for hikes along the wild daffodils. How about a short trip to the Eifel? After a short or longer hike, you can discover more Excursion destinations in the Eifel or simply stroll through the beautiful town centre of Monschau.
