Anniversary with climbing fun and open doors: 25 years of Neuss Youth Hostel

Bright sunshine, smiling children and a new climbing cube: On 1 May, a new climbing cube was opened on the grounds of the Neuss-Uedesheim Youth Hostel not only celebrated spring - but also a quarter of a century of hospitality, community and experiential education. Around 500 guests came to the „Open Day“ to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the youth hostel - including many families, former guests, curious people from the neighbourhood and prominent guests of honour.

Colourful programme for young and old

After the official welcome of the guests by Oliver Mirring, Managing Director of the DJH Rhineland regional association, the event got underway: the youth hostel presented itself with a colourful hands-on programme: climbing, face painting and fairground games provided entertainment. Hourly tours of the hostel gave interested visitors an insight into the youth hostels and what they have to offer.

Inauguration of the new climbing cube

A real eye-catcher and highlight of the day was the ceremonial inauguration of a new climbing cube - a gift from the DJH regional association, which will enrich the range of activities on the outdoor area in future. Together with the existing climbing wall, which has been used extensively on school trips and holiday camps since 2015, this will create a little paradise for guests who enjoy exercise.

With momentum into the future

But there is also plenty of time to look to the future: with plans for new offers for cycle travellers and families, Neuss Youth Hostel is ready for the next 25 years. The hostel management, Maria and Anton Krüger, are also looking forward to the next 25 years. State Garden Show, which will take place in Neuss from April to October 2026.

A house with history and heart

Neuss Youth Hostel, built on the site of the former „Jugendhof Neuss“, now has 142 beds in 32 rooms - all with en-suite bathrooms. The hostel specialises in school classes, families and groups and offers educational programmes and leisure activities that combine exercise, creativity and team spirit.
