Tip: Rhine in view

Fun for families: the Rhine cycle path!

On the left and right bank of the Rhine, it runs for 260 kilometres from the Siebengebirge to the Lower Rhine - with the great river always in view. 12 youth hostels offer a close-knit network of overnight accommodation: Bad Honnef, Bonn, Cologne-Deutz, Cologne-Riehl, Cologne-Pathpoint, Neuss, Düsseldorf, Ratingen, Duisburg-Sportpark, Duisburg-Landschaftspark, Xanten and Kleve.

Our suggestion: A week-long cycle tour in several stages from Bad Honnef to the Dutch border. The leisure and cultural activities on offer in the cities of Bonn, Cologne, Düsseldorf and Duisburg make this route ideal for families.

Day one: Bad Honnef - Bonn, tip: Drachenfels, Museum of German History
Day two: Bonn - Cologne, tip: Moby Dick, cathedral, chocolate museum
Day three: Cologne - Düsseldorf, Tip: Zoo, Zons, Media Harbour, Rhine Tower
Day four: Düsseldorf - Duisburg, tip: imperial palace, Duisburg harbour, slide & tower in the landscape park
Day five: Duisburg - Xanten, tip: Bislicher Islands, Romans in Xanten
Day six: Xanten - Kleve, tip: trolley, Kleve zoo
