A class of its own
Inclusive school trip programmes
Inclusion means that everyone belongs - that no one is excluded from a community, whether they have a disability or not. „A class of its own“ is the logical name for a new inclusive programme that is being developed in the Hellenthal Youth Hostel and is aimed at 5th and 6th graders. The programme exists as three- or five-day variant.
„This school trip allows school classes to experience the basics of inclusion. The content promotes a real sense of togetherness, cooperation and tolerance. They show that being different is normal, that everyone has different strengths and how classmates can support each other better,“ explains the programme manager „Transparency NRW“.
„With its mix of experiential education content and creative methods, our programme appeals to pupils in a holistic way.“ The programme includes slackline and archery workshops, climbing together in the covered team high ropes course - and the community game „Domino Chain Reaction XXL“.
