Inclusive employment at Bonn Youth Hostel
Since June 2023, the Bonn Youth Hostel with Projekt Router gGmbh. The inclusion service provider supports people with disabilities on their individual path to employment. Bonn Youth Hostel is one of the Cologne-Riehl Youth Hostel and Düsseldorf This is already the third youth hostel in the Rhineland regional association to give people with disabilities the opportunity to work in the primary labour market.
A total of three employees are currently working at Bonn Youth Hostel thanks to the cooperation with Projekt Router. In which areas are the employees deployed? In building services, house cleaning and administration, explains Anika Dubbelfeld, who has been in charge since the beginning of the year. There are also plans to employ people with disabilities in the kitchen and scullery. For Anika Dubbelfeld, the new team members are a great enrichment. In addition to the diversity in the team, she also appreciates the impact that this has on the other employees: „The team spirit has become stronger and everyone supports each other,“ says the manager happily. The new colleagues also bring a special warmth and different skills, which are very helpful for some areas of work.
The support provided by the employees of Projekt Router gGmbH is very important to Anika Dubbelfeld and her team. They help with the induction of new team members, are the point of contact for important problems and provide support when dealing with the authorities. Even though hiring employees with disabilities involves a considerable amount of extra work, Anika Dubbelfeld is happy to have chosen this path. „We want to show that inclusion works in companies and that there are alternatives to workshops for adapted work for people with disabilities,“ says Dubbelfeld.
