Autumn highlights in Cologne, Bonn and Düsseldorf

Milder temperatures and lots of great events: autumn is the perfect time for a city trip to the Rhineland's major cities. Until the end of October, young people up to the age of 26 can benefit from the „Citytrip4friends“ of the youth hostels in Cologne, Bonn and Düsseldorf.

Highlights in Cologne in October

Cologne's autumn will be one thing above all: particularly musical. In October, the LANXESS Arena will host concerts by the Jonas Brothers, Cat Ballou, Janet Jackson, Melanie Martinez, Ms Lauryn Hill & The Fugees and Nena takes place. But as at any time of year, autumn in the cathedral city is also fun: from 11.10.-3.11. the Cologne Comedy Festivals over 200 top stars of the industry as well as new talents in over 150 mix shows and solos, stand-ups and at other events. • „Monet's garden“An art exhibition of a special kind will open in the Alegria Exhibition Hall in mid-October. The immersive exhibition uses state-of-the-art technology to immerse visitors in the life and works of the artist Claude Monet.
• Mini design market in the wax factoryOn 13 October from 2pm to 6pm, the autumn edition of the market will feature street food, music, trendy and handmade labels and sustainable products from the region.
• Old Town FestivalCologne music and numerous stalls attract visitors to the Old Town Festival on the Hohenzollern Bridge in the heart of the Old Town from 11 to 13 October 2024.
• Night of the JumpsThe biggest international freestyle MX series is coming to Cologne on 25 October and will thrill you with breathtaking stunts and show acts.

Highlights in Düsseldorf in October

October continues to lure Düsseldorfers and visitors to the NRW state capital outside: on 6 October, the popular Fish market and transforms the Tonhallenufer into a gastro mile for shopping, feasting and savouring. On the first week of the autumn holidays, booksellers, antiquarian bookshops and private collectors will be offering their wares on the Book Mile on the Rhine promenade, old, new, rare and above all beautiful books - the perfect browsing paradise for bookworms and bargain hunters. At the end of the month, the time has finally come: the New Fall Festival goes into the next round. You can look forward to four days of indie, electronic and pop music at the Rheinterrassen in Düsseldorf. This year's line-up includes Stefan Raab's TV band Heavytones and the Mighty Oaks.

Highlights in Bonn

October in Bonn starts with the last days of the Beethoven Festival. Afterwards, the former German capital may be quieter, but it's still worth a visit (or perhaps because of it). After all, Bonn has a lot to offer: The Museum Mile with the Haus der Geschichte and the Bundeskunsthalle, the Bonn Minster, the Birthplace of Ludwig van Beethoven and much more. Our tip for October: The „Dance Worlds“ exhibition at the Bundeskunsthalle about dancing as an essential part of our existence.
