Cycling with a holiday feeling: short tour around Xanten
Welcome to the cycling paradise on the Lower Rhine! With its flat landscape, well-maintained paths and exciting excursion destinations, the region around Xanten is ideal for relaxed cycle tours. In our new series, we present the most beautiful routes - always in the immediate vicinity of our youth hostels. We start with a particularly family-friendly tour around the South and North Sea in Xanten.
17 kilometres that taste like a holiday
The „Short tour around Xanten“ at just under 17 kilometres, is perfect for families, beginners or anyone who wants to enjoy a relaxed cycle throughout the day. The route has virtually no inclines and leads along tarmac and paved paths through a varied landscape: glistening lakes, green meadows and small villages accompany you on the route.
Swimming, water sports, climbing - or simply enjoying yourself
Along the route, there are always beautiful places to stop and linger. On the shores of the South and North Seas, you can swim, watch the surfers, hire a pedalo or try your hand at waterskiing. Those looking for more action can satisfy their thirst for heights in the climbing park by the lake. If you prefer peace and quiet, you will find cosy cafés with a view at the lake harbours.
Bed+Bike comfort at Xanten Youth Hostel
Xanten Youth Hostel is the ideal starting and finishing point for your cycle tour. As ADFC-certified Bed+Bike accommodation, it offers everything that cyclists need: secure parking spaces, drying facilities for wet clothing, tools for small repairs - and even a charging station for e-bikes directly at the hostel. If you are travelling without your own bike, you can easily hire one on site or nearby.
