Wuppertal is famous for its suspension railway. And not just because the elephant girl Tuffi jumped out of it into the Wupper in 1950. The suspension railway can look back on over 120 years of history and is therefore affectionately known as the \u201eold lady\u201c. So if you are travelling to Wuppertal, a ride on the suspension railway is a must. But Wuppertal also has a lot more to offer. Families in particular have the choice of many different leisure activities in the capital of the Bergisches Land region. The suspension railway takes you to many of the city's sightseeing highlights, first and foremost the Suspended bodrom<\/a><\/span>, which only opened in autumn 2023. It is a mixture of historical exhibition, VR experience and light show all about the Wuppertal suspension railway. On the other side of the city, but also easily accessible by suspension railway, is the Green Zoo Wuppertal<\/a><\/span>. The terrain is \u201emountainous\u201c with ups and downs. With beautiful meadows, large ponds and an old stock of trees, it lives up to its name. It is one of the most scenic parks of its kind and is the only zoo to be included in the European Garden Network. Wuppertal Zoo is home to more than 3,300 animals from all continents, including elephants, big cats, monkeys and penguins.
\nFor families interested in culture, a visit to the Von der Heydt Museum<\/a><\/span>. It houses a large collection of paintings, sculptures and prints from the Middle Ages to modern times. Changing exhibitions and special guided tours and workshops for children ensure that a visit is fun for the whole family. Even more culture, but also great nature experiences are offered by the Sculpture Park Waldfrieden<\/a><\/span>. Although the journey by suspension railway requires a 10 to 20-minute walk, you will be rewarded with impressive works of art by Wuppertal-based sculptor Tony Cragg.<\/p>\n
