Leisure tips for our outdoor professionals
Our Eifel youth hostels Hellenthal and Simmerath-Rurberg are true outdoor professionals and, together with their programme partners, offer a wide range of adventure-based educational activities and team training. In addition, the Eifel National Park, which incidentally is celebrating its 20th birthday this year, endless leisure opportunities.
A huge outdoor and adventure park
A must for every visit to the Eifel National Park is a Hike through the varied nature. Ambitious sports enthusiasts and families with children alike will find the right route on certified premium hiking trails such as the Eifelsteig and high-quality circular hiking trails. There is something to discover at every step - from rare animals to picturesque views. Those who prefer travelling on wheels can explore nature with the Bicycle or mountain bike on disused railway lines, along rivers and old volcanoes. As the destination of a hike or cycle tour and also easily accessible by car, there are many varied excursion destinations in the region, such as
- the dam walls of the Olef Valley- and Urft dam
- the Hellenthal game reserve with bird of prey station
- the Former Ordensburg Vogelsang IP, the Eifel National Park Centre with the Experience exhibition „Wildnis(t)räume“ at home
- the Kommern Open-Air Museum
