China Lights - family holidays full of magic on the Lower Rhine

When the days get shorter, colourful dragons, glowing mythical creatures and entire underwater worlds shine in Kleve: From 10 October to 30 November 2025, the China Lights Kleve Zoo is transformed into a colourful sea of lights. Giant lantern figures, thousands of LEDs and a colourful underwater world delight children and adults alike. The 30 metre long giant dragon, which is the highlight of this year's exhibition, is particularly spectacular.

The Kleve Youth Hostel has taken China Lights 2025 as an opportunity to put together a special family offer. The China Lights„ event package“ not only includes admission to the light show in the evening, but also to the zoo during daylight hours. Over 350 animals from more than 50 countries await you there - including red pandas, dwarf otters, sloths and snowy owls. Many of the animals can even be fed - a real highlight for children.

Family-friendly Kleve Youth Hostel

Kleve Youth Hostel enjoys a quiet and idyllic location on the edge of the Reichswald forest, the largest contiguous woodland area in the Lower Rhine region. The hostel's large outdoor area invites you to play, run around and discover, while parents enjoy the relaxed atmosphere. In bad weather, the playroom provides variety and fun indoors.
