Honey from the youth hostels in the Rhineland

The honey bee is the third most important farm animal in this country - after pigs and cattle. 85 per cent of agricultural yields in Germany depend on pollination by honey bees - so the expression „busy little bee“ is no coincidence. In addition to this impressive pollination service, bees also do something else: they produce honey. If this comes exclusively from Germany and is completely natural, it is genuine German honey. And it not only tastes really delicious, but is also healthy: it contains more than 180 different ingredients such as minerals, enzymes and amino acids.

Genuine German honey from the youth hostels

The Waldbröl „Panarbora“ youth hostel keeps honey bees in its nature discovery park. At the beginning of June - when there was only one beehive - honey was extracted for the first time as part of a nature lesson (early harvest). In the meantime, five more hives have been added and will soon be extracted (summer honey). Another bee colony lives on the roof of the youth hostel in Cologne-Riehl. A second one is to be added soon. Both youth hostels sell their own youth hostel honey at reception - an original souvenir to take home.
